Smart Network Access System Does More For Less

Network Critical, the creator of the leading enterprise access technology solutions, announced today that it will be revamping its Smart Network Access (SmartNA) System. With the introduction of a new web interface and filtering capabilities, the structure of this modular system will be changing to accommodate the upgrades. Changes will include combining product lines and adding features to some current products. The change comes at a time when many datacenters know that providing permanent access to the network is important but need to find money-saving ways to bring these tools into their datacenters. Network Critical is offering more features without raising their prices.

The newly developed web interface and filtering capabilities are leading the way for changes to the entire Smart Network Access System. The easy to navigate web interface allows users to easily configure their SmartNA Systems, create SNMP alerts and run firmware updates. Some of the innovatively designed hardware in the SmartNA System will also allow users to filter traffic on many different criteria, including IP address, protocol, VLAN and many more.

The organization of the SmartNA System will also be changing. Because the Smart Network Access System is a module and chassis based system, it allows customers the flexibility to purchase a hardware solution customized to fit into their environment. Customers have a choice of three chassis; the Portable Chassis, which holds 1 TAP module, the 1U Filtering Chassis, which holds up to 4 TAP modules and allows filtering, and the 2U High Density Chassis, which holds up to 12 TAP modules.

Level 2 modules will now provide the ability to perform as a Breakout TAP, an Aggregating TAP or a Regenerating TAP. Level 4 modules will have the same functions as the Level 2 TAP with the added capability of being able to send traffic to the backplane for aggregation and regeneration across modules. Level 6 modules will have all of the capabilities of Level 4 modules with the ability to filter traffic. The unique setup of the SmartNA’s hot-swappable modules allows for the upgrade of the system just by purchasing new modules.

Pricing on all of the modules in the SmartNA System will remain the same. This means that Network Critical will be offering additional features to customers at the same prices they are currently charging.
