Rapid Communications Deployment – Federated Service Level Management to Support Multi-National Preparedness in Crisis Catalyst named to Computerworld 2011 Class of Laureates

TM Forum’s Defense Catalyst Project - Federated Service Level Management to Support Multi-National Preparedness in Crisis – has been named to Computerworld’s 2011 Class of Laureates for Honors. Selected from more than 1,000 entries, this pioneering Catalyst project defines a blueprint for the rapid rollout of critical communications services across a federation of multi-national partners and stakeholders, helping in the rapid deployment of reliable communications infrastructure in disaster situations.

Computerworld’s prestigious annual awards program recognizes organizations which create and use information technology to promote and advance the public welfare, benefit society and change the world for the better. Finalists will be announced from the shortlist of Laureates in advance of an Honors Program Dinner on June 20th in Washington D.C.

Championed by NATO C3 Agency and inspired by the multi-national response to the Haitian earthquake in 2010, key aspects of the multi-phased project include the dynamic discovery of services and the creation of complex service value chains based on discovered elementary national contributions, secured service management information exchange across multi-national coalition partners, and automated end-to-end service management.

The project applies and builds on existing TM Forum best practices and standards, including the flagship Frameworx suite of standards.

Collaborative work on this multi-vendor technology project has been undertaken by a group of TM Forum member companies including: NATO C3 Agency, who has contributed vision and leadership across all three project phases, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), Booz Allen Hamilton, CA Technologies, DAX Technologies, Infonova, Layer 7 Technologies, Network Critical, Progress Software, Square Hoop Limited, Thales Communications, and TNO Information and Communication Technology.

The third phase of the project will host live demonstrations at Management World 2011, May 23-26 in Dublin, Ireland, and will showcase an architectural blueprint for the rapid rollout of critical communications services across a federation of multi-national partners.
